From Local to Global: A Birds-Eye View of Changing Landscapes

Google Earth Activity

In this lesson students will use Google Earth to discover various ways landscapes change over time by analyzing land use and land cover patterns in current and historical satellite images from locations throughout the world.

Below are the lesson plan for this activity and two versions of the Google Earth exploration. The online version is very small in size because all of the images are posted on the web. The second version of the Google Earth exploration includes all of the images in one file and can be run without a connection to the internet.
